Programme learning outcomes
  1. In-depth knowledge and comprehension of complex concepts and phenomena in the field of electronics and telecommunications, methods and theories explaining the dependences between them, as well as main development trends in electronics and telecommunications; knowledge of the fundamentals of life cycle of electronic and telecommunication devices and systems.
  2. Ability to apply the engineering knowledge to design according to specific needs, and to critically analyse and to judge operation of electronic and telecommunication devices and systems, with consideration of non-technical factors; ability to formulate and to test hypotheses related to simple research problems in electronics and telecommunications.
Grading policies Lecture - at least 50% of proper answers in written test Project - design and implementation of electronic circuits and preparation of written reports
Course content LECTURE The lecture covers topics connected with electromagnetic compatibility and reliability - electromagnetic waves interaction with basic construction materials; Materials used in construction of electronic and optoelectronic equipment; electronic and optoelectronic systems; Technologies of electronic equipment assembly: contacts and joining elements, wiring methods, SMT technology, PCB boards. New trends in manufacturing of electronic equipment employing new materials and micro- and nanotechnologies. PROJECT The project is arranged in such a way that each student is realizing his or her independent project at the successive laboratory stands - at the CAD stand, the execution project of the chosen electronics circuit is worked out; at the stand with milling micromachine, the necessary layout is manufactured on a selected substrate; at the stand with thick layer technology, necessary thick layers are deposited; at the stand with SMT technology, the circuit is assembled finally; and at the measurement stand, the correctness of manufactured electronic system is verified. OTHER Implementation of the project in laboratories, additional consultations with the supervisor.
