Programme learning outcomes
  1. Knows and understands advanced problems related to architecture and urban planning useful for the design of architectural objects and urban complexes in the context of social, cultural, natural, historical, economic, legal and other non-technical conditions of engineering activities and integrates the knowledge acquired during studies
  2. Knows and understands the rules of gathering information and their interpretation as part of preparing a project concept
  3. Can use the experience gained during studies to make a critical analysis of the conditions and formulate conclusions for design in a complicated, interdisciplinary context
  4. Can use analytical methods to formulate and solve project tasks, present the theoretical background and justification of the offered solutions in the form of a scientific study
  5. Is ready to respect the diversity of views and cultures and to show sensitivity to the social aspects of the profession
  6. Is ready to take responsibility for human, social, cultural, architectural and urban values in environmental protection and cultural heritage
Grading policies assesment based on positive marks for active participation in classes (40%) presentation and essay (60%)
Course content During the course, selected cases of revitalization of historic areas will be discussed and analyzed, with particular emphasis on examples from Poland and Europe involving the revitalization of historic city centers and post-industrial areas. A detailed plan of the Seminar: a. Introduction to the urban regeneration and adaptive reuse problematics with special emphasis on sustainable and bio-based solutions and decarbonization of the built environment; b. Co-defining the list of topics for presentations; c. Presentation of students' essays on selected topics;. d. Discussion and formulation of the renovation wave guidelines.
