Prerequisites
Knowledge of the basic principles of designing timber structures.
Przedmiotowe efekty uczenia się
  1. Student will be able to describe complex timber elements (e.g. composite beams, single/double tapered or curved beams made of glued laminated timber, trusses) and define static scheme with loads for them.
  2. Student will be able to design complex timber elements in basic states using methods included in PN-EN standards.
  3. Student will be able to name and describe the properties of modern wood-based materials.
  4. Student will be able to use methods of fire design of timber elements according to PN-EN standards.

Treści programowe 1. Contemporary timber structures - composite beams as load-bearing elements for roofs, ceilings and walls. 2. Prefabricated solid timber girders joined with punched metal plate fasteners - technology and dimensioning. 3. Elements made of glued laminated timber - characteristics and dimensioning of elements according to PN-EN. 4. Modern wood-made materials - characteristics. 5. Fire safety of timber structures.

Formy i warunki zaliczenia przedmiotu Written test and projects. The final grade is a weighted average of the test (50%) and project classes (50%).
Szczegółowe treści przedmiotu LECTURE Contemporary timber elements and wood-based materials. Shaping guidelines and examples of complex wooden and timber structures. Fire safety of timber structures. PROJECT Elaboration of a selected issue in the field of modern timber structures.
